Today is the big Helping Hands community service project day they do in South Africa. Ours is to cut down big bushes and limb a bunch of trees and power wash the front of the building at the Child Welfare Office. The office is in the old Port Alfred train station in town. We prayed the members would come and prayers were answered. There were at least 44 people there, which also included President and Sister Wood. The Child Welfare people, Guenther and Susan, were very grateful for all of the work that was done. Even the little children helped pick up garbage around the area.
After the work, we had a braai for everyone that included
Boerwors on buns, macaroni salad, beans and oranges. They cleaned up most of the food!!
After we were done and had returned the tools to the church,
the Woods came to our boarding and everyone got showers and dressed back in our
missionary attire and we headed to see Sister Dell at frail care at Settlers
Park where she lives. She had asked for
a blessing and Rick told her they would do it today, since President Wood would
be in town. We had a nice visit with her
and Rick was the voice for the blessing.
After that we went to the Ocean Basket restaurant for dinner. It was a nice evening and President Wood even
got a referral for our elders. Our
waiter will be getting a call from them soon.
We then went back to our boarding and everyone finished up
responsibilities for Sunday. The Woods
will be speaking in sacrament meeting and Rick finished up the bulletin.
