September 16, 2013 P-day tour of “Daniell Cheetah Breeding Project”

For P-day today, we got up at 5am to leave at 6am for our tour of “Daniell Cheetah Breeding Project” which is about 38K north of Utenhage which is north of Port Elizabeth.  Our directions said it would take about 2 hours and 10 minutes.  However, the road they had us go on was no longer open, so we just put our African map reading skills to work. When we first got here, we would regularly get lost if the GPS or map didn’t show us exactly where to go. Now, we just use our acquired bushman skills and most of the time do well. When these skills fail us, we call it an adventure and have a good time anyway. We took the next road off the N2 that went to Utenhage, caught R75 and from there looked for signs.  We were the first couple to arrive. Pretty good for getting lost… no a bit confused a couple of times. We were soon joined by the Chases,  Boyces, Blatters, Stokoes, Gardners and Sherberts.  After the tour of the center, we went for a late breakfast at Georgios in Utenhage a kind of an all you can eat high end restaurant, which was very good.
