Today we spent the morning preparing for seminary (me) and
Rick did some clean-up work and organizing.
After lunch, we made several visits.
First, we stopped at the church to get the rest of the edible vegetables
from the garden to take to the a family in the branch. I also had 2 packages of yarn or wool as they call it from which we
made the lacy scarves last year. I had
big plans, but no time to make them, so I gave it to Sister Tunye and her
daughter Magret. They both loved making
the scarves. We first stopped at the
Nteyi’s, then, Ntombiyakhe’s to see how her babies skin was doing. She was scratching it a lot on Sunday had to
be taken home early from church.
We determined she should be taken to the doctor. I made the appointment for Friday
morning. She seemed quite grateful. She has worried about it. She could take her to a clinic in the
township, but they really don’t get good medical help. We then stopped by the Tunye’s and Naydeen, who
is a nonmember, but had investigated the church. She just had a baby and we wanted to see how
she was doing. Next was a stop at Vivian
Princes’ to see if he was home, then to see Sibongiseni Ngcibi, then Sister
Dell before we had to be at the church by 5pm.
Rick had a training meeting with the branch membership clerk, Vuysile
Matshotyana. After our meeting, as we
were taking him home, we heard what sounded like a rock hit the glass somewhere on
the car. It was like we were shot
at. As we were driving in the township,
the drivers side window just shattered.
Either someone threw a big rock at us or the previous rock hit weakened
the glass and by driving over the crummy roads, the glass just shattered. Either way, it was a little unnerving. After we dropped Vuysile off, we went on to
visit Daphne Young. We usually read
scriptures with her, but we just visited and left a short message. Her boyfriend taped up the window so it
wouldn’t shatter all over Rick if it finally did break out.
